Well, the bleeding will be slow but steady. Many of the twentysomethings that are invested in the market think that steep market declines have to happen suddenly and then everything is fine thereafter. Not so. The 1973-74 bear saw as many as 40% up days, maybe close to 45%. This is a slow, grinding bear market that will wear out most investors. Those who think that this is a nightmare that will somehow go away are living in a fool's paradise.
