If I had the (perceived) power to move the market, which arguably AJC does after last April, and I worked for a company that profits when they buy the lows and then sell the highs, I would probably have already established my core position before I said anything bullish so that I could get the positions cheap.

If I remember correctly, there was one or two days of rallying after AJC's comments last April. But I suspect that they had already exited whatever positions that they planned on exiting.

Notice that at the May lows buyers were only around 15% of trades. That means 85% were selling. Yesterday, there was still heavy net buying.

This doesn't seem like a 100% effective indicator, looking at the comparison graph for Y2K. However, it is a good reference point. Even though negative sentiment seemed to be everywhere yesterday, the retail investor (at least at Ameritrade) was buying over 77% of the time. There's that buy the dip mentality. It will be interesting to see what today's action was like. If we really are headed for an important low (I really don't have a clue if we are), I think we'll need to get down to pretty big net retail selling. We certainly aren't there, yet.
