John,

I've never studied CA's business model, so I can't address that issue. I do feel though that when investors have a choice in investing in leading products with mass-market acceptance or potential, the preferred choice is to invest in a pure play instead of a play that is dramatically less pure.

Has anyone done analysis on Computer Associates?

My feeling has always been, "why bother." Even if CA makes a profit its management would find a way to keep it for themselves.

John, regarding CA--please don't waste the bandwidth on that two-bit, buyit, squeezeit, takethemoney, giveittoWang operation.
