To run a country, you have to build consensus. To build consensus, you have to know what the people want. To know what people want, you have to conduct polls. That is what Clinton did successfully. When republicans got frustrated in their inability to deal with Clinton they came up with a new mantra "Against Poll Driven Presidency". He may or may not have felt the pain of people but he sure did feel the pulse of the people even during the impeachment saga. Watch for him to play a prominent role after his presidency to vindicate his impeachment and as a vengeance against the right wing zealots.
