Watson,

The term "architecture" used correctly is independent of the pipeline. IA32 is an architecture, which supports many different implementations.

"Microarchitecture" refers to the specific details of how the architecture is implemented. There is nothing inherently wrong with the PowerPC architecture that limits it's clock speed, rather the microarchitectural design is what causes MHz limitations.

TWY, Do not assume the Apples pays a lot for the processors. IBM might make less than you think on them. Nintendo will have the numbers.
Apple seems to be trying to destroy itself by defining a smaller and smaller niche to dominate totally.
This last cube debacle was the end. Apple is now doomed to become a rich mans toy...Oracle?
