RE:"Jim,I don't pray to the Almighty Dollar.....not the reason I went to medical school."

Steve, I know that. I'm I'm just trying to shake you up that health care is better left to Doctors than to the Government.
I honestly think the biggest problem is that healthcare is difficult to operate in a competitive market landscape where competition keeps prices down. Say, someone has a great drug...no competition. Where are the forces to keep it's price in check? Say, you do heart surgery...how do you keep costs down? Deny those that can't pay? Just hard to have a free market when lives are on the line.
HMOs, Insurance cos. try to keep costs down while the govermenment causes them to rise...but what do you do when the patient is in the middle? The doctor is in the middle? Socialistic medicine, the governemnt regulates it....but I'm not sure if that creates the best healthcare.

Jim

Steven...didn't you say that the Government helped you with thousands of dollars of med school? Were those loans or grants? I don't understand who you think the "Government" consists of....I think you said in an earlier post "Big Business" paid the taxes, even though you got the money from the Government....don't *people* work in "big business"...and therefore pay the taxes?

If "big business" or ANY business for that matter, didn't have to pay taxes, or at least such big ones, then no one could 'borrow' the money for any schooling....

I personally consider the Government like a Giant Corporation. The Taxpayers are the owners of this Corporation. The more taxes one pays, the more ownership of that company one has.

I am assuming you have paid the Government back. Haven't you?
