<The only time that the sat is used is when nothing else works, which can be pretty important. Does not help G*, except to provide limited exposure. >

I don't believe many people will buy Globalstar as their single multipurpose phone. It is too big and the battery goes flat too fast. They'll want two phones, with the same number. The cute little Nokia GSM for round town and the dirty great Globalstar phone for in the Outback.

I doubt that Vodafone has had the wit to offer such a service. Vodafone will try to charge for two accounts, insist on two numbers and charge huge amounts for call-forwarding to the Globalstar phone.

They will not sell very many Globalstar phones the way they are going.

I will not be excited if they have sold 28,000 phones worldwide and trebled MOUs to 3 million. Geoff Goodfellow was wildly optimistic that Globalstar would sell 60,000 by the anniversary of Telecom99 Launch. That cock-eyed optimist Valueman was similarly wildly hopeful with his MOU estimate earlier in the year.

The writing is too small on the Vodafone Call Plan url.

Make sure you don't mix US$ and A$. The 47c for GSM is cheaper than US47c for CDMA minutes from Globalstar.

PS: Here is an official survey...

How many of you people who have a Globalstar phone also have a terrestrial phone and use it around town? How about reporting here: Message 14507387
