True, but it was not the format, Bush stuck close to his slogans, which could have, should have, been anticipated and Gore did not expose the lie behind the slogans. There was perhaps too much emphasis on Gore's positive message without something beyond the 1% to show the emptiness behind the slogans. Again, I was watching style and demeanor as much as substance and Gore too often had to react, instead of pro-act in the exchanges. Bush changed several positions for this debate and that threw Gore off. We will now have to see if the intellect of the independant voters exceed their emotions. I just don't know. The independant vote, based on this debate, will mostly hinge on the issue of choice.
