Kirk,

Re:I read a piece in the SJ Mercury news recently that said that the small investor is much smarter than the institutions

Volume like we saw today backs that up. Individuals could not trade near that many shares.

Re:... They still like to make fun of the "unsophisticated individual investor"

They always take shots at them on Squak Box, yet supposedly are the individual investors' best friend.

BTW, NAZ futures currently up 20. Will have to see if it holds; my guess, based on immediate history, is NO WAY!!!!!

I don't mind, but I haven't seen many analysts who have the knowledge to talk about AMAT or TXN's DSP technology with any real understanding of what these technologies are about.

When Intel is unable to meet earnings, or when MOT claims that future earnings will not be that good, everyone assumes that TXN, STM or even Nokia will have identical problems. Yet, if you read the company profiles on TXN and STM, you will discover that their businesses are not identical to Intel's. And Motorola has had problems for many, many quarters.

Cheers,

Mephisto
