RE:"CNN Flash Poll Puts Gore As Winner of Debate 48 percent to 41 percent "

Would you expect anything else from the CNN?

What was with Gore heavy breathing? Does he need prescription drugs.

Flash polls are practically worthless, but I will take the time to dissect this:

CNN Flash Poll Puts Gore As Winner of Debate

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A flash CNN/Gallup/USA Today poll taken within an hour after the finish of the first campaign 2000 presidential debate favored Democratic Vice President Al Gore (news - web sites) as the winner by 48 percent to 41 percent over Texas Republican Gov. George W. Bush.

The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus four points.

Both candidates did well, according to the poll. Some 76 percent of those polled thought Gore did an excellent or good job in the debate, while 70 percent said the same for Bush.

[It was a statistical tie. And, unless the undecideds were moved much, the worst that can be said is nothing has changed. By the way, ABC had a flash poll that showed Gore as the winner too, but the support for Bush was still stronger, and, in fact, went up slightly after the debate. Asking who "won" does not get at the effect of the debates on people.]
