Jim, I think that Bush used a little too much "fuzzy mathematics. To achieve his $1 trillion goes to 3 trillion in 10 years (assuming monthly contribution of $8.333 B for 120 month) requires returns of 19.32%. Where did he get 2%, treasuries are paying around 6%, and for the next 10years, 6% may look sweet relative to a market return like in the period of 1966 to 1982 (no returns).
