WSJ says that the higher tax brackets may not even get a big tax cut at all because they would be subject to the AMT. If Bush said that, Gore wouldn't know how to answer.

Obviously Bush isn't going to talk about the AMT, regardless of what Gore might answer. First, he must have the fat cats believe he will really cut their taxes, and second, Bush is no more likely than the ordinary citizen to understand what the hell the AMT is all about anyway....that probably couldn't be said for Gore.

If you were Bush would you want to point out to your wealthy contributors that your tax cuts are so poorly designed (by neglecting to take into account the effect of AMT) that they won't benefit to any great degree?

Oooops...

I'd keep my mouth shut and hope no one noticed.

Should Bush use this as a defense it won't help...trust me.
