Again, this goes back to the pride of the elderly. How rich are her children, for example? Would she want to take from them? Probably not. Elderly folk are very resistant when it comes to such matters. She does take money from her son's family - money for a new roof and money from annual property taxes. No pride there. On a positive note, Mrs. Skinner probably also believes the can collecting process is a great source for exercise. I say: Praise this woman! I do praise people like this. I've even met a few. They like the exercise and cleaning up the roads.Would anyone argue prescription drugs are not expensive? Yes. Inflation on older script drugs is low. It's the newer drugs providing the high costs. Maybe we should give up drug research because new drugs costs so much. And why don't either point out non-profits like www.themedicineprogram.com? Wouldn't that help Winnie? If you think about it, were Mrs. Skinner trying to collect her cans in 1986, she wouldn't have gotten any money--only exercise. Wrong! I met people collecting cans in my college days (80-84). They were making money off of them then too.Pretty much the Republican party is the party of the rich, by the rich and for the rich. It's comprised primarily of well-to-do white establishment folk. Were it not for NRA issues and Christian Coalition issues, there'd be few ordinary Americans among them. I'm not rich (hardly). I'm trying to make a living, raise kids, pay a mortgage, etc. I'm not an NRA or CC member. I guess I'm one of the few, the proud, the middle-class Republicans! (Scares ya, huh?)
