It is surely correct that the timing requirements for PC133 are more relaxed than those for DDR266. Therefore what I wrote is perfectly valid. I agree that very large systems would need registered or otherwise buffered memory modules in every case, but intermediate systems would not.

The point I was trying to make is that there are some perfectly reasonable conditions where the latency of DDR266 is higher than PC133. Whether that translates into worse system performance is another matter which has been discussed inconclusively and at great length in relation to Rambus.
