Have you forgotten how many of Clinton's aides mysteriously died, committed suicide or resigned from office during his tenure?

I do not think Iran- Contra was nefarious, I think it was ill- advised. I think the Boland Amendment was unconstitutional, and before it could be litigated, it was rescinded. The White House was never in technical violation of it, in any case, since the National Security Council was not covered in the ban on aiding the Contras.

The idea of appealing to moderates within the Iranian regime was not intrinsically silly. However, the encouragement that it might give to hardliners to manipulate the situation made it, in the end a bad idea. Not one, however, that endangers national security as the situation with China does.

I actually don't know who makes more money off of worldwide arms sales. I have never seen a breakdown correlating party registration with such activity. I don't think that the CIA kept people in power merely for the sake of arms sales.

As you say, anything is possible. Perhaps, in the end, Gore would be vindicated. Does anyone want to roll the dice?
