Sam- like I said, I really like both companies. And will be watching for new entry points.

I've lived thru mergers (at least two as an employee) that destroyed shareholder value in the end. More and more, I won't own a stock until a year after the merger has closed- there are too many opportunities elsewhere. This may be a good merger long run, creating a strong company producing high quality products.

As for today, I'm actively researching unloved stocks in underweighted sectors- basic materials, transportation, paper and forest prodcuts etc. But I'm not really in love with any particular stock at the moment. I own some with paper losses, and will probably average down as the overall market moves down, but I find myself very hesitant to take on risk these days.

I find this reluctance interesting, in that usually when I find it difficult to put more poker chips on the table, it is a good time to buy the best of breed stocks.
