impy, the bill congress just passed is like quadruple bypass surgery for someone who just had a massive heart attack. It's really not a negotiable item. It is something that is vital for survival.

Thus, Congress needs to listen to hi tech about their employment (ie immigration) needs. And so far, Congress has been quite good about it, despite the invariable grandstanding by senators or representatives from the Midwest or wherever. (Don't mean to knock the Midwest. I think it's a great place to fly over! <vbg>)

I don't believe any of these hi tech companies want immigration just for it's sake. They want it because they have projects on the pipeline that need to get staffed! They go to enormous efforts to fill out all those h1 forms and all that. They do it because they have no other choice.
