This is simply not the case. MSFT plays a huge role in the internet and the internet will be a major factor in MSFT's future growth. Take a look at their .Net initiative / Enterprise 2000 suite. It's almost entirely built around the internet. Also, PC growth has been fueled significantly by the growth of the internet. MSFT will also play a large role in respect to the wireless internet. MSN is larger than AOL when you look at the overseas user base.

Not likely in my opinion. Hardware manufacturers are and should be valued differently than software companies. Hardware is a much more competitive business than software and the margins reflect this. PS and PE ratios for software and hardware companies are not apples to apples.
