ATLANTA -- SBC Communications Inc. (SBC) and BellSouth Corp.'s

Thursday.

In a press release Wednesday, the joint venture said its president and chief
executive, Stephen Carter, will make the unspecified announcement at a

Oct. 2, SBC and BellSouth said they had completed the combination of
their U.S. wireless businesses, forming thee second largest wireless

As reported April 5, when the two telecommunications companies first
unveiled the deal, SBC owns 60% of the Atlanta-based wireless venture,
