Dell warns on revenues

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Dell Computer Corp. warned Wednesday that sluggish sales in Europe and
among small-business customers worldwide will drag the company's third-quarter revenues down
about 3 percent below expectations. Round Rock, Texas-based computer maker said it remains on
track to meet profit expectations for the third quarter but that fourth-quarter per-share earnings could
be 1 to 2 cents below company targets if the soft sales continue into the fourth quarter. Analysts
surveyed by First Call/Thomson Financial had expected Dell to earn 25 cents per share in the third
quarter and 28 cents per share in the fourth quarter. The computer maker said its full-year revenue
could hit $32 billion, up 27% from a year ago but below the company's previous forecast of 30%
growth.

...and you shall hear the wailing and lamentation throughout the land...
