John, I'm cautiously optimistic on SGI. The current $4 price has little down in IMHO. No one on this thread has accused Bishop of doing anything dumb and I think everything he has done makes sense. SGI pre Bishop made some awful strategic mistakes. The NT path choice I think did serious damage to the focus of SGI in the areas where they were strong. SGI may be just emerging from last effects of this. The new 3000 may turn out to be wildly successful. So even if SGI has another bad quarter I don't see 2. A surprise could get 6 to 8. Inline most likely a trading range 3.7 to 5.

The nature of internet content and the creation tools seem to be moving into SGI's graphics expertise niche. The graphics creation and delivery process have compute requirements that will by most cost effective met using SGI.

Sun and HP don't have it.

I think I'm also going to check out the Yahoo board as it may be a lot less noisy than the SGI board. On this thread it seems that some I respect highly lose it and post lots of junk mixed in with good stuff.

Historically, EPS '97 to-date has been more negative than is estimated for the current quarter. Vector Vest currently has SGI valued @ 6+ ... gravestone doji on weekly chart (indicates end of a trend). Guess that puts me in the same camp with Tom & Austin ... 6-8....
