ancient sea shells found 100 feet above sea level indicating a warming trend millions of years ago.
Or rising landmass, the continents move around and rise and fall and hit each other and things over the course of millions of years.

At any rate, it's true the Earth has been warm before, it's been cold before. The plants and animals of the Earth change dramiticly when the climate is different. I don't think there are reliable predictions what a one or two degree temperature change would mean to rainfall patterns and habitat. The nation's breadbasket could become desert, melting glaciers could result in earthquakes, or the whole country could get a nice climate like Hawaii. It will be different and all the infrastructure from electric grids, to agriculture and ports will all have to change. It will be disruptive and expensive.
