what did msd gain by saying a few times dell was doing well and then warning a few days later? i don't see why he would do it unless he didn't know the situation had deteriorated. did anyone at dell know, not just suspect, that dell was not going to meet expectations?

jmac, I bought Apple after the initial tank and have been sitting here wondering what in the heck is Job's thinking?!! I mean the stock is tanking and he doesn't say diddly!

After sitting through that, MD's comments are comical! I saw him do the same thing around 3 quarters ago! Said everything was fine, and then the company warns. Great business model but the guy is too emotional when he speaks. People here have talked about how to "downplay" future numbers and play the game. He has never learned how to do that.

I don't really know what's worse, no news or just being deceptive. The good news is DELL followed up the warning with a conference and cleared the air a bit. We would probably be at 28-30 with AAPL if just a simple call was hosted.

Sabre!

To hit $32 B for the FY they need 7.257% sequential growth for Q3 and Q4, and that would be +26.663% Y/Y. What's the point of painting yourself into a corner. Will MSD do an acquisition just to hit the number? If that's what it takes, I think so.

I am livid. The ONLY reason why i held on to my dell shares was Michael Dell's interview on CNBC. He specifically said DELL was not experiening a slow down in Europe as reported by Intel.

I truly find this hard to believe. There have been numerous reports of increased AMD penetration into the European market including two large 2nd tier European OEMs(one in GB and one in Germany) offering high end AMD systems for the first time. Germany is the largest market in Europe and with
the better price/performance CPUs being made in their own back yard, a little nationalism is in order.
