Hey gang, looking thru my recent (& final) Money magazine I got in a few days ago...some interesting things-

Page 68 Best Tech Stocks for 2001:

Compaq - A new CEO is slashing costs & restructuring aggressively
International Rectifier - The digital revolution is boosting demand for its power chips
Lucent Technologies - After plummeting 50% this year, it's a compelling bargain
Motorola - The handset giant is gaining ground after years of stumbling
Nat'l Semiconductor - Its debt-free, boasts $800 million in cash and is growing fast
Sawtek - A beaten-down maker of filters for mobile phones
SpeechWorks Intl. - An aggressive bet on the huge promises of speech recognition

(I'll post more info on SpeechWorks on the porch - someone over there has voice recognition software)

-------------------
From Page 1:

$10,000.00 invested in Cisco in 1990 is worth a whopping $7.5 million today, averaging returns of more than 100% a year

------------------
BEST OF THE WEB:

Financial Portals:
MSN Moneycentral - www.moneycentral.com
"...there isn't another site around that can match it for the number and quality of its resources and tools, and no other portal so appropriately addresses the needs of every level of investor, from the neophyte to the guru. That's why MoneyCentral is our pick as the single best all-around financial destination on the Net
-----------------
Investing:
www.superstarinvestor.com: an obsessively detailed guide to virtually every significant investing site on the Web - unbelievably comprehensive, its the labor of one man, Terry Silver of San Ramon California - he spends around 17 hrs a day scouring the Internet
---------------
Financial News:
TheStreet.com
CNNfn.com
--------------
Stock Quotes and Data
Market Guide (www.marketguide.com) tops their list as the best place to look up stock prices and other fundamental data - not surprising considering that Market Guide feeds financial data to more than 135 major websites, including Yahoo Finance & Schwab
--------------
Stock Analysis:
Multex Investor (www.multexinvestor.com) is the leading source for those much hyped buy-sell-hold stock reports put out by brokerage houses and research groups
--------------

Portfolio Tracking & analysis:

MSN MoneyCentral (www.moneycentral.com) The most worthwhile portfolio tracking sites can follow a stable of stocks from the date and price at which they were purchased, adjust for splits and dividends, and point out holes in your portfolio. The high-powered tracker at MSN MoneyCentral fits that bill and then some. (as long as you are on a PC) It automatically updates prices every 5 minutes, categorizes your stocks by six criteria, including risk and market capitalization, and provides advice on how to better diversity your holdings - its surprisingly easy to use

----------------
Stock Screeners
MSN MoneyCentral's Stock Finder (www.moneycentral.com/investor) is tough to beat for serious stock screening.
Mac users, try Wall Street City's ProSearch (www.wallstreetcity.com)
----------------
Charts:
MSN MoneyCentral (same as above) trumps the field in this category too

--------------
Bulletin Boards

Motley Fool
Raging Bull
Silicon Investor - has amond the most highly trafficked tech boards, and for good reason - the site tends to foster relatively intellectual stock discussions. Fortune 500 CEOs have been known to listen in on the chatter, and there is such camaraderie that members sometimes meet offline to debate stocks. (side note - really!)
-------------
Miscellaneous:

InvestorWords (www.investorwords.com)
Dismal Scientist (www.dismalscientist.com) - latest global data
------------
Banking:
www.virtualbank.com
------------
Calculators:
www.financenter.com - more than 100 calculators on subjects ranging from mutual funds to mortgages
