There was some debate at the time whether or not to follow Saddam to Bagdad. I recall Bush and some of the military leaders were in favor of "finishing the job" but liberal out cry stopped it...seems some actually started to feel sorry about the rout. Something similar happened to Germany/Berlin at the end of WWII and we paid for it for 30 years...

I couldn't agree with you more. I was puzzled then and I am still puzzled why the "experts" approved of it so much.

But it was not the last time Bush snatched the defeat from the jaws of victory...
