sly:

They removed that Micron RDRAM part off the validation list at Rambus.com. It doesn't look good for MU obtaining any RMBS licenses without paying through the nose in royalties.

What package will Micron use for RDRAM?
micronsemi.com

Micron is utilizing an FBGA package for the RDRAM component. This package is a lower cost alternative to other packages being proposed for RDRAM. While this package will meet all the package parasitic requirements for Rambus, it does have a different pinout than the package proposed by Rambus Inc. (see data sheet). Micron will support RIMMs with this pinout so the package difference will not impact usability within a RIMM socket in a PC system.

The above said - I believe the exceptions have been removed by Rambus
