Your post said "any Bush". Anyway I would presume W's policies (on everything) to be pretty much a copy of his Dad's policies. He apparently intends to staff his administration with key personnel from his Dad's Presidency. W is very close to his father so I think Dad's advice would generally be followed to the letter.

I think the difference between Clinton's and GHWB's policies on China are one of degree . . . and not a major degree IMO. We'd already started selling sophisticated military equipment to them in the Bush administration, and letting American companies launch satellites from Chinese facilities - both bad ideas.

Getting back to W, does he oppose PNTR for China or support it? I recall that he supports it. Is he going to get tough on the defense companies who have transferred defense technology to China and used their lobbying muscle in China's behalf? What sign is there that he would make any serious changes to our China policy?
