But for some reason Liberals are unwilling to spend as much time advocating adoption as they are later term abortions. Again, my personal belief and feeling about abortion is that I find it a choice often made either too hastily, or too lackadasically. I personally know women who had early term abortions and the guilt from their act continues to remain with them to this day. Now if that isn't trauma, I don't know what it. And the longer the pregnancy continues before eventual termination, the higher the likelihood of post traumatic guilt.. Personally, I think abortion should offered as a kind of "last resort", with women counseled to carry the pregnancy to term and to put the baby up for adoption. At least with adoption, the natural mother will know that the child is still alive and hopefully living in a happy home (or she can just choose to believe that she is). The result is the same as the child is taken care of by someone who usually truly and dearly wants one (but probably can't have one naturally).. And you should know better than that David. Being a doctor, I'm sure you are aware of the psychological trauma that can result when a women is offered only one choice for avoiding becoming an early mother. Abortion is traumatic, now matter in which term it occurs. The best thing we can do is to limit the potential trauma by limiting how late in the term the abortion is permitted. And certainly we have to limit when the physical procedures for Abortion and natural childbirth rival one another in the risks to the mother. Remember your hippocratic oath, David... Unless you liberals no longer believe that most ancient of professional oaths...
