COM DEV announces multi-million dollar order for European space subsidiary CAMBRIDGE, ON, Oct. 16 /CNW/ - COM DEV International Ltd. (TSE: CDV) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary COM DEV Europe received an Authority to Proceed (ATP) from a major European satellite prime contractor for advanced RF/Electronic equipment. The ATP, which gives COM DEV the authority to begin work on the contract up to a maximum liability price of pnds stlg 1.000M ($2.2M), is expected to lead to a contract worth approximately pnds stlg 6.456M ($14.2M) for miniaturized MMIC circuitry RF electronics. It is common practice in the space industry to use ATPs to begin work on large programs while details of the formal contract are finalized. COM DEV Space manufactures advanced products that are sold to the major satellite prime contractors for use in commercial communications and earth science satellites. This order builds upon a series of successful space contracts that COM DEV Europe has won in recent years from major European and American satellite prime contractors. The equipment will be designed and built over the next two years in COM DEV's facility in Aylesbury, England. COM DEV Europe Managing Director John Stuart said, "We're pleased to have won this contract against stiff competition from U.S. suppliers. The purchase of this equipment further reinforces COM DEV Europe's considerable capability to design and manufacture advanced electronics."
