In the wake of robust UK subscriber figures from Vodafone (VOD:LSE) [Discuss], Lehman Brothers reiterates its "buy" stance on the telecoms giant. Vodafone acquired 6.2 million new subscribers in total, an 11% increase relative to the broker's expectations.

At the same time, Vodafone has announced its investment in China Mobile to tap into the lucrative Chinese market. "With a wireless penetration rate of around 5% and poor fixed-line infrastructure, the potential market growth in China is substantial," say analysts.
