And he is basing that on what? Osmosis? ;-)


No. It is based on defect density. Simple statistical analysis can give you an upper bound on yield for a given die size and defect density. Defect density is well established for PIII manufacturing, and obviously the P4 die size is known as well, so there are no degrees of freedom in Elmer's analysis.
