"I knew you when you were still in your mother's womb"?

Paul... I was thinking the same thing, since my wife throws that in my face everytime we have a discussion on the topic (usually because I foolishly debate it out here online and she happens to see what I'm writing.. :0).

Some of these folks think I'm being extreme, but that seen anything compared to my wife. I'm constantly catching heat from her when I tell her that since we live in a Representative Republic, I don't have the right to utterly deny a woman the right to an abortion since the whole concept of "life at conception" is traditionally a religiously derived concept. And we can't inflict religious views while protecting certain inherent rights of the secular society.

But we can apply pressure to force the secularists to respect the long-established precedent against abortion as birth control.

But personally, abortion is only one aspect of this election, and certainly not one that we'll find a whole lot of tolerance on from either side.

It may be the time to move on and find something else for the quasi-liberals/conservatives, otherwise known as moderates, to waffle over.... :0)

Btw, it is GREAT to see Zeev participating out here...

Always nice to see one of the greater SI gurus gracing us with his presence.... <VBG>

Regards,

Ron

Yes, Jeremiah, Ch. 1 line 4, "beterem etsorecha yedaticha, navi lagoyim netaticha..." (More or less Before I created you, I knew of you <of course, G-d knows all the past and the future> and before you were born I designated you a prophet to all nations). That is not to say that Jeremiah was alive before his birth, only that the mighty one had plans for him once he comes out of the womb. Mind you, that is a "rating" of importance, the books of the prophets do not carry the same weight as the bible itself. To the best of my knowledge, genesis is the only place in the bible where the 'begining of life" is determined. I am not a biblical scholar, however, and the best of my knowledge, may not be sufficient. The point to be made, however, is that the question is a religious issue, there are faiths where the question of choosing between the life of a non living (yet) newborn and the life of his (already living) mother is resolved unequivocally, the mother lives, the unborn is not a living being.
