Heinz, something that's been bugging me about the ECB....it would seem that the obvious solution to the problems (were Europe under a single government) would be to combine tax cuts with the discount rate increases, to offset the effect on employment and business activity. One handicap the ECB has is that they simply cannot do this, unlike every other nation. Untill some means are developed to coordinate tax policy in the member nations (yeah, RIGHT) I think the zero is doomed.
