A top level MSFT individual indicated MSFT is putting a lot of resources and people into Internet software and out of PC OS. Can Wind work with MSFT Windows CE etc under the reasoning on your #8591 or is this not in the cards?

Never say never, but in this case there is nothing that hints of this need, much less possibility. Microsoft’s paying off Corel to try to get third party participation in their new Net strategy makes one wonder if there is any intelligent life in Redmond. Frankly, until we do see some signs of intelligence from Microsoft, it’s a waste of time talking about any Windows product.

Recall from years past, when Microsoft and Windows CE were hot topics on this thread, I rarely technically maligned Windows CE. My major position was, and is, that Microsoft’s business model simply doesn’t fit the embedded space, and can’t be made to fit. This is the classic situation that always describes a disruptive technology taking out the mainstream players – it is never about technology. There is much less reason to worry about Microsoft today than before, and their newly proclaimed and widely ignored Net strategy doesn’t change anything.
