Good to have "Big Brother"to make decisions for the good of all.

Wait a minute.. Are you telling us you're now a liberatarian and believe "big brother" shouldn't have any moderating influence in our lives?

Anyone with half a brain should realize that modern society is always a compromise between freedom and order...

But if you'd like, then I would be HAPPY to go through a step by step explanation of how I view abortion rights should be governed from day one of conception.

And I betcha it will be far more logical and convincing than the traditional liberal diatribes...

Are you game?

Regards,

Ron

It is probably best to minimize suffering for all concerned: woman, child, parents, fetus, and society. I don't think that an ax-wielding priest crashing his car into local abortion clinics is the answer. Birth control by abortion is also NOT an optimal solution. But it is better than having a child who is resented and mistreated for 18 years. Abortion is an invasive procedure not without risk. RU-486 offers a therapeutic treatment that offers a less invasive alternative, but it isn't a free lunch either.

This is a social problem and arises from people's dualistic view of sex as something fun and exciting yet shameful and embarrassing. This comes from our whole culture and is transmitted everywhere on TV and elsewhere.

It's like you're driving your car, but afraid anyone will see you so you cover your head with a paper bag. Sex without protection is stupid. Even with protection it is not without consequence or danger. But conservative groups don't want the schools to teach the kids. They think that should be done at home. But it is NOT being done at home. This is so circular.

If parents want to opt their kid out of sex ed, then maybe an equivalence exam can be proctored. If your kid passes, then you can opt your kid out. If they fail, then everyone should get a basic dose of the facts. Like vaccination, you can't expose others to your ignorance or carelessness, especially when it comes to matters of public health.
