The actual cash saved on taxes paid on that portion alone of my income will be fricking
$4,000!!!!!!!!!

What it doesn't tell you is that paying off the national debt would mean a lot more than $4000 income if you have any reasonable investments. You get tax pennies and lose investment dollars.
