LU order from SBC is bad for ALA and CMTN. The problem w/ CMTN is that they have never have broken into the RBOCs. I guess this further cements CMTN into the CLEC space which as we know is not doing well expect for the big two, NPNT and COVD. Its bad for ALA in that presumably they tried to sell the same equipment but LU got the order.

Doesn't look like CMTN is every going to make it into RBOC space. The saving grace is if COVD and NPNT continue to use them then the really end up getting RBOC money via the CLECs! CMTN may be boxed out from the RBOCs but the CLEC space just got much bigger the past few weeks. The only risk is if the CLECs switch to ALA or LU or someone else, then CMTN is toast.

So its not surprising that SBC didn't go w/ CMTN, they never have gone to them in the past. Nice upside for LU, which needs some help right now.
