It's true. The nation got whipped into hysteria over the OJ Simpson trial where a quality of justice, long been held precious, got subverted into a notion that those found not guity are actually guilty. The sex scandal set up of Clinton and consequent impeachment trail--yes, trail, not trial--further distorted the notion of innocence. Were Clinton unfit for office, he would have been convicted in the impeachment. He was not! Doesn't anyone find it a bit ironic that it's Republicans who are leading this charge which distorts the time honored quality of justice in America? I assure yers, give the GOPO control of the White House, the Senate and the House and "Roll over Beethoven" will have new meaning. And we won't be happily singing and dancing to and with the different drummers. Indeed, we'll encounter more economic hardship and debt, more exploitation of the Third World, money spent on jails instead of on schools, foul environmental policies and very likely a misuse or nonuse of new technologies which can be used to improve the world in which we live. Why? Because the Republican platform, simply put, lacks vision for the future and the Republican leadership, using a campaign of smear (yes, trying to peg Gore as a "liar" is smear) is more concerned with power and economic control, wanting very much to be the controlling authority.
