I saw the Bloomberg version of this news yesterday, Jim, which included a interesting quote which I've dug up:

''If I were GlobeSpan or Analog Devices or Texas Instruments, I'd be looking over my shoulder right now,'' said Banc of America Securities analyst Alex Gauna, who rates Broadcom a ''strong buy.''

I guess it's too late to submit a resume:

Cambridge, England, Oct. 5 (Bloomberg) -- Element 14 Inc.'s 68 employees are to share 40 percent, or $256.4 million of the $641 million Broadcom Corp. agreed to pay to acquire the U.K.- based microchip designer, the Times of London reported, citing Element 14's chief executive, Stan Boland.
