Scumbria,

re: Sunnyvale, affluence, and private schools.

First, sunnyvale is NOT affluent (on a relative basis).

It is strictly middle class.

If u lived in palo alto, u might be very proud of that public school system. In fact the high school is considered on of the very very best in the US.

The point is that vouchers are not the solution.

They are simply a means for middle class parents to seperate their kids from the unwashed masses.

I also think spending more money on public schools is not the answer either.

The problem is complex.

You start with poor, uneducated parents struggling to make a living. Continuing with a lack of discipline at home and school. Coupled with a society that doesnt value education over other values etc.

Perhaps harry solution of kicking out all the bad kids that have bad grades and have poor discipline has merit.

As a bleeding heart liberal - who sends one of my kids to private school - i find that solution unacceptable.

regards,

Kash

<Well there are several more reasons to "wait and see". 1) You don't know how much lower the IPC will be. 2) You don't know how high the processor will scale. 3) If the SSE2 instructions make the chip faster, and they are used in driver software to improve performance of games substantially then they will have a real impact. >

Challenger dad, eh?
