Yitzhaki: Police Have "Hard Information" on Acts of Violence Planned for Tomorrow
By Assaf Zohar

Jerusalem District Police Commander Brig.-Gen. Yair Yitzhaki warned today that the police have "hard information" on acts of violence planned for tomorrow on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, following Friday prayers at the mosques.

Hamas declared Friday to be a "day of rage" and Fatah in the territories declared the "liberation of Jerusalem day".

Yitzhaki said that the police are speaking with Palestinian representatives and the Waqf in an attempt to avoid confrontations. He stressed that the police are ready for any eventuality.

Today, the IDF withdrew tanks that had been placed in recent days in positions near Palestinian towns in the West Bank. The withdrawal follows oral understandings between Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian Authority chairman Yasser Arafat, and agreements between senior IDF commanders and their Palestinian counterparts.

Today was relatively calm in the territories and within the Green Line. Israeli and Palestinian officers held joint patrols in many areas of conflict, in an attempt to implement last night's cease-fire understanding.
