I bought COMS at 26 last year. Just before the PALM spin off, I sold the JAN 75 calls for 11 5/8 when COMS was at 70, in the hope to pocket the money when the calls will expire worthless come January, after failing to borrow any PALM share to short.
Message 14047751

Today the aggregate value is about 90 (1.48 sh PALM and 1 sh COMS) and it would cost me 20 to buy back the cover calls. To hedge my position I bought some COMS jan 15 calls (@3.75) when COMS was at 16 and some more (@5) last week when it went up to 18. Today it took the 20 resistance level with ease. My strategy is buy back the cover calls before year end to take the tax loss and keep my long positions into the new year.

It appears to me that COMS has surpassed the pace of appreciation of PALM since the spin off. However, this move could have been fueled by short covering. The number was at 9 mil shares short in Aug vs 6 mil the month before. Nonetheless, I really like the momentum COMS has generated. I also like the huge cash position the low price to book ratio at below 2.

Thought I'd share my thoughts.
