"we dont get much for our tax dollars..." As usual, you are bang on Teresa...I am infuriated by our social contract...several years ago my mother needed hip replacement surgery...the wait was intolerable so I took her to the States for it...as regards to "don't give them any" I do my best in this avenue but even this is limited(and I trained as a CA)..another option is to leave...my time may be close.......ian

<If I need an operation here in B.C., I'll have to go down to the U.S.> Funny you should say, I needed an operation last August in Central Ontario. Instead, the Doctor suggested I hire a Red Cross plane to take me back to the U.S.; she was serious. I had the operarion in the U.S. 2 weeks ago. Been a nightmare trying to work out the insurance deals between Blue Cross Insurance and Canada ever since. They are particularly incensed that the Canadian version of an ambulance is a helicopter. Sc**w Blue Cross, I would have died without that helicopter. I have no idea why it was better to have the operation in the States but here is where I had it, simply because the Canadian Doctor insisted on it. I'm certain it had nothing to do with the quality of medicine in Canada. I was puzzled by the concern at the time but I survived so I suppose the advice was well-founded.
