Crazy, Eric, all: massive edit, okay, we have Ruiz talking procs, jerry talking 1.5Ghz

[
EDIT: My bad, EricRR and andreas got it right:

Hector was talking processors, not speed grades:
5 = Mustang server, Mustang-core Tbird, and mobile Tbird,
Mustang-core Duron, and mobile Duron

Jerry said 1.5Ghz in January on the desktop.

Unclear if anyone but zdnet said "new speed grade every blah weeks"

TCD,

How about this scenario...

What you suggested sounds possible to me, but will so many speed grades introduced between now and the end of the Christmas buying season (~Jan.15) roil the retail markets? Last year both AMD and Intel slowed their speed grade introductions in the 4th qtr to avoid this problem.

Also they tend to clam up about new introductions that they have planned after the holidays. Intel learned to do this after they talked about the post-holiday introduction of the wonderful, super-powerful, Pentium MMX and pinched their pre-holiday sales of basic Pentiums.
