I don't think Joe even mentioned dollars other then to mention the fact that we are all ready spending a lot of them on a system that doesn't work as well as we would like.
I just don't understand why so many people think a socalist (state provided/run/controled) system is good for education.
You can have a state funded system that isn't totally socalist.

Tim,

First this is the comment (see below) in his post that I was responding to directly but I also feel that it is a recurring theme in Joe's posts......that gov't is spending too much $$$ and that $$$ is not resulting in success. Now I have no intention of going and pulling all of those posts to prove it to you but you are welcome to check it out for yourself.

"But the current amount is twice of an amount at which the results were as unacceptable. We have this experiment going on with one variable: money. You put in more, no result, you put in even more - no result. Now with failure after failure in this experiment you say:"

As for your comment that includes the phrase "a socialist (state provided/run/controlled) system".....where is that coming from? I never said anything like that. What makes you think I am a socialist?

What I said is that good education is an important fundamental and essential to the success of a country, and it behooves us to spend and do as much as it takes to insure that we have an excellent school system.

Where do you get socialism out of that? In fact, why did the argument become indeological? After all, we all benefit from a good educational system.
