Majordomo: I pointed out weeks ago that in '96 Clinton only got 59 percent of the union vote. I might be wrong, but the numbers I've seen in Michigan show 70 percent union support for Gore. You're right. The key to the election, at least in states such as Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Missouri and Florida, might well be how well the unions turn out the Democratic vote, and how well the Democratic leaders in the black community turn out the black vote. I think we'll see a heavy turnout for each.
