THREAD ---A Good Read ---FROM Motley Fool ----2G phone but it is a start :
Dear Gang I just came back from my local Verizon store.

I just bought the new Nokia CDMA 5185i :-)

It cost me $79.95 and is an exact duplicate of the old 5185 except the antenna is telescopic. It is much lighter then the previous model and if you open the back it it says.

Model 5185iVA

Licensed by Qualcomm

MADE IN KOREA

The reception of this phone is super clear. The best I have ever heard. So the problems between Nokia and Qualcomm are resolved. Now with Nokia as a partner Qualcomm will start to sell more chips. This is great for both companies. I have started my research into QCOM as an investment and will eventually do a 15 Point Fisher analysis of it.

The service I received at the store level was very poor, It took me an hour to get the phone and to have it prepared. Very sloppy service, the worst I have seen yet.

They have 8 models for sale;

Motorola V8160 = $449
Motorola Time port = $329
Motorola Star tec 7868 = $ 249

Audiovox CDM 9000 = $149
Audiovox CDM 4000 = $29
Audiovox MVX 485 = $59

Qualcomm QCP 2035 $79.95
Nokia 5185i $79.95

Thus with this model they enter Verizon with the middle of the road price.

I think this is also the beginning of a long and profitable partnership between QCOM/NOK.

The Verizon store received 100 5185i's on Monday and I was told by Customer Service that they were available in all the Verizon kiosks and stores as of last Monday.

They are supposedly selling well but the manager wouldn't allow me in the stockroom to confirm.

Sprint PCS is next, once Nokia gets in there then the good times will be here again.

It's all about market share these days at Nokia and with this phone, customers will be able to get a Nokia phone with CDMA quality at a very good price.

1+1 = 3 on this one.

Let the naysayers say what they want, but Uncle Mycroft can now walk into any Verizon store and see a Nokia. This I couldn't do for over a year. We are starting a new page in Nokia/Qualcomm history today.

Let's hope this partnership will last for the next 50 years!
BEST WISHES
BILL
PS : Maybe it has finally happened
