"Can any other person on this thread post something besides
an already dis(s)ected two-day-old SanDisk release in response to..."

Calculator, we seem to be experts at recycling, rehashing
reworking and refurbishing two-day-old news here. But you are absolutely
correct; when all is said and done it is still just stale, two-day-old news.

Sorry if you found the Hitachi news and ensuing
discussion tiresome. I interpreted the agreement
as very meaningful to SanDisk shareholders, as I did
the recent Toshiba announcement that we also beat to death.
Clearly there are differing opinions on the significance
of these news reports.

I found this piece which I thought you may be interested in
since you are a Tower Semiconductor investor...

techweb.com

If I recall correctly from the Tower/SanDisk joint c.c.,
Eli thought of MicroFlash very favorably because of
scalability, but had some concerns about endurance. I am
not sure how many erase cycles are required for embedded
flash in an integrated microcontroller, but the improvement
from 10,000 to 100,000 seems significant as it is
approaching the endurance of standard NAND flash.

As far as cell size goes, I was still surprised by
Bin Yeh's comments a while back. When asked if he
thought SuperFlash was the most cost effective solution
he stated "yes" partly because of the cell size. He then added
that they reversed engineered some competitor's product
just to be sure. What that indicates to me is that
scalability is a crucial feature and that nobody is
actually certain how scalable a competitor's product is
until they lift up the hood and check the engine!!!

I hope that Saifun/Tower continues to advance their technology.
SanDisk owners have a vested interest in their success.
Indirectly we all own a piece of Tower.

Best,

Ausdauer
