byhiselo: Appreciate your advice. My rationale is that companies with less than stellar earnings or guidance would have already pre-reported by now and the remaining news should be positive. However, your advice will be heeded--I will keep some cash on the sidelines. I HAVE bought full positions in the most beaten-down chip stocks: LRCX, AMAT, TXN, ATML, NSM and CMOS. These are stocks which have the earnings to support their very low current valuations, stocks which will not disappear.
