--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sales at dynamic random access memory (DRam) chip-maker Powerchip Semiconductor last month surged a year-on-year 150 per cent to hit a monthly record of NT$2.68 billion (about HK$667.05 million).
In the first nine months, Powerchip sales were NT$12.575 billion, up 59.4 per cent from the same period last year, the company said.

The chip-maker attributed record sales to better yields from 0.18 micron technology chips and rising 64-megabit DRam output.

Powerchip said it had posted record sales for four consecutive months. It said its monthly wafer capacity would rise to 35,000 by the end of the year from 30,000 last month.

Its Taisdaq-listed shares fell by the daily 3.5 per cent limit to NT$33.10 on Wednesday in line with a 2.93 per cent fall in the over-the-counter bourse.
